Originally established in 2013 to respond to the local demand for professional solutions for 3D CGI in Japan, J CUBE has quickly positioned itself internationally, first by publishing research at SIGGRAPH, and then with the widespread adoption of its 3D CGI VFX and Anime software products Multiverse and Maneki which are being used on major Hollywood film productions and Original TV Series by Netflix, Amazon, HBO and much more:
In June 2018, J CUBE and ANA partnered to develop a new core technology called Lightfront: a secure, generalized, bi-directional ultra low latency live data streaming framework designed for hardware and cloud applications in the Internet of Things (IoT). The project received multiple awards, and highlighted a 4K low-latency, remotely controlled, live stream from the International Space Station.
J CUBE leverages on its unique combined know how of high-end 3D graphics, rendering, streaming and cloud development to provide novel products, solutions and ad-hoc consulting to its clients, worldwide.
The core design, research and development team behind J CUBE projects is located in Yokohama, Japan. It has several decades of cumulative experience developing 3D CGI and VFX, rendering technologies, embedded systems, low level system programming etc. Our management has technical background and our organization is flat and efficient. We minimize meetings and work with agile methodologies. Our team is international and multi-cultural. Our official company language is English, and we speak several other languages. Our team has a long history in contributing to 3rd party proprietary and open source technologies. Likewise, we also develop our own proprietary and open source tools. We believe there is value in each model, and therefore adopt both development methodologies on a need basis. Over the years we have been working, directly or indirectly (e.g. via plug-ins), on major commercial software products such as Autodesk® Maya®, Mudbox®, Showcase, Alias®, Arnold, nVidia® mental ray®, Foundry Nuke®, Katana®, Illumination Research 3Delight, 3Delight Cloud (powered by AWS), Jupiter Jazz AtomKraft. We also worked on several open source projects and APIs such as: Alembic, USD, MaterialX and MaterialXS, Multiverse and Milliways, NSI.
